猿を使う脳の動物実験反対メール

毎年、大変大変残酷な動物実験で沢山の猿達が

犠牲になっている。

動物実験もまた終わりが見えません😢

精神病の一種「妄想」研究するために

アカゲザルが脳に損傷を与えられ殺された。

脳組織に毒物を注入し、脳を切開して損傷させた。

餌のペレットを使い、タッチスクリーンの前で

300回の試行を繰り返すセッションでテスト

脳組織を得るために殺された。

1,225人の人間のボランティアもサルと同様に

テストされたが、意図的に脳に損傷を与えられた者は

いなかった。

重要な情報を人間から得られるのであれば、

なぜサルが使用され、このような残酷な実験の

対象となったのかという疑問が湧きます

この研究は、英国のオックスフォード大学と

米国の国立精神衛生研究所（NIMH）で行われた。

米国の税金が使われて資金提供された。

人間でのみ効果的に研究できる現象を研究するために、

常に霊長類が残酷で非人道的な研究の対象となっている。

私は、NIMH が資金提供している研究に強く反対するためにこの手紙を書いています。

アカゲザルは、「妄想」を研究するために、

非常に侵襲的な脳手術、損傷、検査、そして死にかけられました。

このような研究は不道徳なだけでなく、人々に直接の利益はなく、使用されるリソースは人々を直接助けるために使用された方がよいでしょう。

私は NIMH と NIH 全体に、これらの残酷な実験への資金提供を停止し、非ヒト霊長類を人間の「代理」として使用することをやめるよう強く求めます。

I am writing to strongly object to research being funded by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) (see reference below). Although the researchers involved listed many affiliations from several countries, the work was apparently done at the NIMH and the University of Oxford in the UK. Rhesus macaques were subjected to highly invasive brain surgery, damage and testing, and death, in order to study 'paranoia'. Even the authors of the study cast doubt on the scientific appropriateness of using non-human primates to study human psychiatric conditions. Not only is such research immoral, it has no direct benefit to people and the resources used would be better applied to help people directly.

I urge the NIMH and the NIH in its entirety to stop funding these cruel experiments and to end the use of non-human primates as 'surrogates' for human beings.
